Strix Luna is an Austin alternative rock act that originally formed in Los Angeles, where they were featured in Music Connection magazine as one of the "Hot 100 Live Unsigned Artists and Bands" in 2013.
The band is the brainchild of YL Beller and Rick Lambert, two like-minded songwriters who met while attending music school in Los Angeles. YL’s combination of sweet vocals that transition into aggressively raspy wails in addition to Rick’s heavy yet melodic guitar riffs are what drive the unique sound of Strix Luna. Sugarcult guitarist Marko Desantis has described YL as “the real deal” and her onstage performances have been compared to the likenesses of legends Janis Joplin and Alanis Morissette. Rick has also captivated audiences at live shows as murmurs of how “hard he shreds” have been heard amongst the crowds.
Adding an equally talented rhythm section (Marcus Herrera/Bass and Erik Schuman/Drums) has propelled Strix Luna to become an integral part in the hopeful comeback of rock n’ roll. The band has played with many other locally known female-fronted bands such as Glam Skanks (Hollywood) and Leather Leaf (Austin) at venues notoriously known for hosting great rock acts (Boardner’s Club Moscow in Hollywood and Lucky Lounge in Austin).
Strix Luna released their long-awaited debut EP "Finally Alive" in 2014, which was produced by Jun Murakawa (Buckcherry/Chevelle/Soundgarden). They are currently gigging in Austin while writing new material for an upcoming second album, but a tour may be in the near future. Long live rock n’ roll!
