Reverend Dogman and the HEARD is a contemporary blues/classic rock band comprised of musicians from the Chicagoland area, featuring the music of Eric Clapton, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa, Cream, Buddy Guy., along with an occasional tip of the hat to blues history with amped-up versions of Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor, and Willie Dixon classics.
You don’t have to be a “blues head” to enjoy our band, however, you do have to appreciate LIVE music. People who want to be American Idol judges, or who want to hear Brown Eyed Girl for the billionth time may want to look elsewhere. We want to reach into your soul and GIVE you a musical experience, not just regurgitate old hits that we know will get us paid. We want to uplift you and make your life better for that night, so that you can go back to work on Monday refreshed, and spread the word of the HEARD.
As much as we love to play authentic blues music, we are far from a traditional blues band. We know the audience wants to hear hits they are familiar with, so we include classic rock gems from Bob Seger, Ten Years After, Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, Doobie Brothers, Black Crowes, Neil Young, etc. We don’t want to be so obscure that the audience detaches themselves from the band. Just like fishing, sometimes you have to let some line out, and sometimes you have to reel it back in.
As an establishment booking bands, we know the most important thing to you is to bring people in, make them stay there, and sell lots of beer. We can honestly say that we put our hearts, and efforts into every gig to ensure that we are asked back. We know the rules of the game, and are respectful to those rules.
Entertainment is supposed to be fun. We love to play music, and try to do it so that the energy is contagious to the listener. Good music, beer, volume, and a sense of humor. Let’s rock!
