Paul Oscher
Paul cut his teeth playing harmonica for tips in black clubs at the age of 15. He went on to become the first Caucasian member of the great Muddy Waters Blues band. Paul’s blues style comes from the time he spent on Chicago’s South Side. He shared the basement of Muddy’s house with the great Blues pianist Otis Spann.
Paul, learned guitar from Waters and piano from Spann. He recorded with those masters and many others. Paul played and toured with Muddy Waters from 1967–1972. He is a multiple WC Handy Award Winner for his own albums and a Grammy Nominee for his vocals, harmonica and guitar contributions on Hubert Sumlin’s album “About Them Shoes” along with Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Levon Helm and others. Paul now resides in Austin Texas where he has a six piece band. He plays major Blues festivals and Art Centers all over the world.
