Acclaimed New York City-based vocalist and songwriter, Joelle Lurie, brings her distinctive “jazzed-up pop & popped-up jazz” modern style to Take Me There (2014), her debut album of standards, originals, and reimagined pop covers. Featured on NPR’s "Song Travels with Michael Feinstein,” Joelle's record features tight arrangements by her longtime bassist, Ben Gallina, and the band, the Pinehurst Trio.
Joelle Lurie Quartet started out as a group of close friends, all living on the same block on Pinehurst Avenue in the upper Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights. Together, they have performed at renowned venues and organizations, including Lincoln Center, Rainbow Room, Birdland Jazz Club, SubCulture, Zinc Bar, New York Stock Exchange, Four Seasons, Top of the Rock, Regattabar in Cambridge, MA, Tavern on The Green, Rockwood Music Hall (where they play regularly), and as the ensemble-in-residence at the James Beard Foundation.
In 2016-17, the Quartet was Resident Artist for Lincoln Center Kids, performing throughout the season, teaching children about music, and developing their new kids’ music brand, JoJo & The Pinecones. Their newest album, Night & Day (2017), is geared toward kids but enjoyed by all ages, and has received great reviews since charting on SiriusXM Kids Place Live. JoJo & The Pinecones performed for the first time at the famed Lollapalooza Festival in Summer 2017, and are excited to make their BAM debut this fall.
