On the theatrical stage, Erica appeared as Charlaine in Broadway’s Ain’t Misbehavin’, an Apollo Singer in The Buddy Holly Story at The Lawrence Welk Resort in San Diego and toured as the incomparable Dorothy Dandridge in Smokey Robinson and Mickey Stevenson’s musical, “Sang Sista Sang.” She also enjoyed performing classic hits at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with Motown’s legendary Funk Brothers, the band behind the incredible Motown sound. Erica feels “it is a privilege and honor to help others through music and the arts”. In her professional career, she created a social collaboration album called “Start the Conversation” working with Aids Responsibility Project (ARP) and President George Bush’s Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/Aids administration to bring about education and awareness to the HIV/Aids epidemic in Africa. This project was launched and highly regarded at the International Aids Conference in Toronto. She created and mentored an after-school outreach program with Reseda Middle School and Capitol/EMI Records in Los Angeles teaching local students how to successfully run a record business. Passionate about finding a cure for such diseases as dementia and cancer, she toured with a national theater company as an advocate and artist promoting Breast Cancer awareness and donating show proceeds to support cancer research.
Currently, Erica is a private voice instructor and teaches music recording and song engineering to students. She coaches local talent on songwriting, music production, and studio recording practices. When not teaching or playing trumpet, she is the lead singer of a Jazz-Blues Fusion band called Southern Renaissance.
