San Diego's BARBARIAN returned in early 2014 from Rancho De Luna in Joshua Tree, California with what can easily be described as a self produced modern masterpiece. The debut LP (following up the critically acclaimed EP, City of Women and Daze of Youth 7 inch) Night Blooms stirs up spirits of early post-punk in the lyrical vein of Nick Cave with the no brainer hooks and rhythms of Talking Heads 'Remain In The Light'. The LP's debut track "Pheremones" is a perfect example of this; with a rhythm section that could resurrect Fred Astaire and a sax solo that would make Bryan Ferry blush. After their 2013 tour with Bat for Lashes and their homecoming show with Arctic Monkeys, this band proves they are here to stay as constant evolving force in underground music.
