Singer/songwriter Chuck Charles is known in San Diego as "the stupid man's Randy Newman" with great piano, funny and/or poignant songs, and engaging stage patter. He plays regularly smart rock piano lounge music at Goodbar in Pt. Loma and En Fuego in Del Mar.

His records have been praised by the likes of Burce Hornsby, Van Dyke Parks and Robert Christgau. Some descriptive reviews highlights have said "Words that I would kill to hear on primetime radio", "Zevonesque" and "Should you expect to see them accepting a Grammy next year? Probably not, but don't hold that against them, hold it against the Grammys."
